Huawei Cloud has reinforced its commitment to driving Kenya’s digital transformation with the successful hosting of the Huawei Cloud TechWave Kenya Day in Nairobi.

The event, themed “Innovate Now, Ignite the Future,” brought together more than 120 senior leaders and decision-makers from government, finance, media, e-commerce, and the wider ICT sector.

As more than 170 countries roll out national digital strategies and over 60 governments adopt AI policies, Huawei Cloud is positioning itself as a key partner in helping African nations adapt.

The company is tapping into its global expertise to deliver solutions that create real business value while fueling innovation in Kenya.

Opening the conference, Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Kenya, urged bold investment in technology.

“The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now. Huawei Cloud is proud to have been in Kenya for 27 years, and we are here to build a better Kenya and a smarter, more connected future together. We want to become a one-stop shop for software development, offering the tools, platforms, and expertise needed to power Kenya’s digital economy,” he said.

Shi outlined Huawei Cloud’s transition from cloud-native to AI-native architecture, a move that integrates artificial intelligence across every layer of the cloud.

This shift reflects global trends where enterprises are adopting “Cloud for AI” and “AI for Cloud” models to enhance efficiency and scale services.

Huawei Cloud’s global ecosystem includes more than 2,000 industry customers and 800 technology partners.

In Kenya, the company is working with local businesses, developers, and public institutions to accelerate digital adoption.

The event featured keynote speeches and live demonstrations, highlighting the practical application of Huawei Cloud’s technologies.

Timothy Oriedo, Founder and CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, shared how Big Data, DevOps, and AI are driving Africa’s intelligent transformation.

Using Kenyan examples in fintech, agriculture, and logistics, he explained how enterprises can turn raw data into actionable insights.

Rex Xiao, Vice President of Huawei Cloud’s PaaS Product Department, introduced CodeArts  a DevOps platform built on two decades of research and development.

The platform integrates 28 tools into one environment, offering distributed builds, unified workflows, and automated testing.

According to Xiao, CodeArts delivers three major benefits: higher efficiency, built-in security checks that surpass industry standards, and intelligent automation for productivity.

Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer at FinSense Africa, emphasized the importance of DevSecOps in digital transformation.

He pointed out that practices such as one-click deployment, root cause analysis, faster turnaround times, and security by design are central to agility and innovation.

Through its partnership with Huawei Cloud, FinSense is supporting Kenyan businesses in achieving these goals.

Anthony Miano, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, shared a case study from the Philippines, where a leading internet company increased software development efficiency tenfold after adopting CodeArts.

Meanwhile, David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics at Huawei Cloud, discussed data platform modernization.

He highlighted the Lakehouse architecture, which merges the scalability of data lakes with the reliability of data warehouses, enabling real-time analytics and trustworthy AI model development.

The day concluded with a live demonstration by Kevin Kipruto, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud.

He showcased a web-based e-commerce application that illustrated how Huawei’s platform-as-a-service and DevSecOps tools can speed up software delivery while ensuring performance and security.

Looking ahead, Huawei Cloud pledged to continue investing in Kenya and Africa by combining cloud computing, AI, big data, and DevOps into practical industry-ready solutions.

Frank Shi closed the event with a call to collaboration:
“We are not just providing technology. We are building ecosystems, nurturing talent, and co-creating solutions. Together with our partners, we will continue to build a smarter, more inclusive, and more intelligent future for Kenya and Africa.”
