Good news for drivers along Thika Superhighway, Globe Roundabout is now open, ending nearly two weeks of traffic headaches.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) confirmed on Wednesday, March 25, that motorists can once again move freely along this busy route into Nairobi’s Central Business District. “Traffic flow at Globe Roundabout has been restored. Motorists can now resume their normal journey on this section,” the authority announced.
The roundabout was closed on March 12 for repairs to the Nairobi River Bridge. This is an area of critical need and has been slowing down traffic and causing jams in this area.
As a result of this closure, there was a great delay in traffic flow, many people had to use alternative routes like Kipande Road and others leading to the CBD. Even businesses were affected, and people had to wait for long time before their services were rendered.
KeNHA reminds motorists to be cautious and observe road signs and directives by traffic police and marshals when using the roundabout.
As a result of these repairs, there is an expectation of improved flow of traffic. This means that alternative routes used during this period, which were packed with cars, should now be relieved of the pressure of too much traffic.
