The Kenya Medical Training College (Kenya Medical Training College) has announced full scholarships for students who wish to pursue certificate studies in Community Health Nursing under its 2026/2027 intake.
In a notice released on Thursday, May 14, KMTC Chief Executive Officer Kelly Oluoch said the programme will be fully funded and will begin in September 2026, running for a period of two years.
According to the college, the scholarships will cover all training costs for successful applicants selected for the course, which is being offered in partnership with the Beyond Zero Initiative.
“The Kenya Medical Training College in partnership with the Beyond Zero Initiative is offering scholarship opportunities for the Certificate course in Community Health Nursing commencing September 2026 in the 2026/2027 academic year,” the notice read.
KMTC said the initiative is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery at the community level, with a focus on reaching underserved regions. Priority will be given to applicants from Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) counties, marginalised communities, minority groups and other vulnerable populations.
In addition, the institute highlighted that the scholars will be expected to serve in their communities once they complete training. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should note that they should have attained at least C- or its equivalent in KCSE mean grade to be eligible for the scholarships. Furthermore, they should have attained at least C- in English or Kiswahili and Biology subjects together with D+ in either Mathematics or Chemistry or Physics.
One of the requirements of applying for the scholarship program includes writing a handwritten essay of no more than 200 words on why the applicant deserves the scholarship and how they plan to serve the community after training.
Applications will be conducted online via the KMTC admission portal at admissions.kmtc.ac.ke. Candidates should note that they will first create an account on the website then apply using the application forms provided.
After submitting the application form, candidates will need to print out the form, attach all the required documents, stamp and sign it then deliver the filled form to the KMTC Chief Executive Officer in Nairobi by June 13, 2026.
The scholarship program is aimed at encouraging many students to join the health sector besides while also addressing gaps in community healthcare services across the country.
