Kenya’s booming hair industry is set to take center stage at the Africa Hair Market exhibition in Nairobi next month.

The event will showcase products from small enterprises and emerging businesses in the sector, which, according to trichologist Muli Musyoka, generates about Sh8.6 billion annually—over half of East Africa’s Sh14.5 billion hair and beauty market.

Co-organized by Africa Is A Planet and Global Exhibitions Inc., the exhibition will be held at the Sarit Expo Centre, featuring affordable shelves for exhibitors at Kh2,300 each.

“We aim to create a vibrant market where diverse stakeholders can unlock economic potential,” said Keith Oleng, founder of Africa Is A Planet.

The shelf-based model offers startups in hair care, beauty, and fashion an affordable platform to showcase their products, promoting business growth and sustainability.

Christine Mwende, CEO of the KNCCI Nairobi Chapter, noted that the event provides crucial opportunities for SMEs in sectors with high potential for job creation and innovation
