The African School of Governance (ASG) has launched a powerful movement to redefine leadership across the continent, following a successful presidential tour through major African cities.
With a mission to transform how public policy is taught and practiced in Africa, ASG is fast becoming the go-to institution for the next generation of ethical and visionary leaders.
Led by ASG President Professor Kingsley Moghalu, the tour visited Nairobi, Lagos, Cairo, Maputo, and Abidjan, drawing the attention of government officials, academics, development partners, and Africa’s rising changemakers.
The response was overwhelming, with packed summits and panels underscoring the demand for leadership that reflects African realities.
“The question won’t be what you studied or where. In ten years, the question will be, have you joined ASG?” declared Professor Moghalu at a high-level event in Nairobi. His words resonated across all five cities, signaling a shift toward homegrown solutions in governance and policy.
In partnership with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and other world-class institutions, the African School of Governance offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) unlike any other.
Rooted in African context and challenges, the curriculum focuses on ethical, purpose-driven governance and equips mid-career professionals aged 25 to 50 with tools to lead effectively and reimagine governance altogether.
“Africa’s governance challenges won’t be solved by imported frameworks,” Moghalu stated. “We’re creating something new, designed by Africa, for Africa. You can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket ASG is that ticket.”
With its first class beginning in September, the school is actively recruiting 40–50 mid-career professionals. Tuition is set at $15,000 per year, with generous scholarship opportunities to ensure that top talent across the continent has access.
ASG is positioning itself not just as an academic institution, but as a launchpad for African transformation. Through executive training, immersive case studies, and direct policy engagement, the school offers a hands-on, real-world education that goes far beyond the classroom.
ASG’s ambitions stretch well beyond the MPA. By 2027, the school aims to introduce new programs in corporate governance, public finance, and other strategic areas vital to Africa’s development.
At the heart of this vision is Professor Kingsley Moghalu former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a respected global voice on African transformation. Under his leadership, ASG is creating a space where bold ideas, ethical governance, and African agency can thrive.
“This is the beginning of something powerful,” Moghalu concluded. “A leadership renaissance. The African School of Governance is where the future of African governance begins.”
