A Call to Action: Addressing Gender Inequality

“This is not just a statistic; it is a call to action,” she stressed, urging stakeholders to rally behind Echo Network Africa Foundation in eliminating these barriers and fostering true equality.

She also raised concerns about technology-facilitated abuse, warning that digital spaces must be safe for women to fully participate in social, political, and economic spheres.

Kenya’s Progress in Women’s LeadershipKenya has seen historic advancements in women’s leadership.

In the 2022 elections, the number of female governors increased from three to seven, and women now hold some of the country’s most influential positions, including Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice, and Attorney General.

However, Justice Koome cautioned that progress remains slow and, in some cases, symbolic rather than substantive.

“We must go beyond token representation. Tearing down deep-rooted inequalities is the only way to achieve lasting gender equity,” she asserted.
