The Capitation Funds 2026 comes as Grade 10 learners prepare to report to senior schools for the first time, with their reporting date set for January 12, 2026.

“The Government affirms its commitment to its duty to learners and educational institutions as stipulated in Article 53 of the Constitution for every child to have an entitlement to free and compulsory basic education,” CS Ogamba assured.

The Ministry said that the fees for senior schools remained intact, adding that the government had retained capitation at Ksh 22,244 per learner annually. It also called on school principals to utilize the money well and desist from levying unauthorized fees on parents.

“The School heads and principals are instructed to ensure prudent use of these public resources entrusted to their care for the benefit of learners and to desist from imposing any extra levies or fees,” CS Ogamba said.

Any misappropriation or unauthorized collection of fees that is found to be valid will be taken seriously by the Ministry.
