Dubai has introduced a city-wide Contactless Hotel Check-in system for hotels, providing a convenient feature for guests to check in without having to undergo traditional check-in processes. This move sets a new standard in the hospitality industry since it provides a contactless check-in experience that enhances security.

This cutting-edge technology, introduced by Visit Dubai in partnership with a number of companies, lets tourists perform all their check-in processes even before their arrival, using their mobile phones. Uploading their ID documents, as well as their biometric info, only needs to be done once.

This means that repeat tourists, constituting nearly a quarter of Dubai’s total yearly tourists, will have a stress-free experience every time since this group of tourists no longer has to proceed with in-person check-in processes.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Visit Dubai, explained, “With this new contactless check-in facility in hotels, right from the point of arrival, it now becomes easy for tourists to focus on enjoying Dubai, as this new technology means that from now on, tourists will be able to access their rooms quickly, with a personalized experience being ensured for repeat tourists.”

The technology can be integrated easily with existing hotel applications and online platforms, thereby providing a smooth launch for those involved. Besides, the contactless check-in service for hotels has immense potential for being expanded to other services in the tourist sector, like car rentals, as far as Dubai’s aim of a completely smart, tourist-friendly city is concerned.

This initiative also fits in with other smart technology systems being used in Dubai, like Dubai International Airport’s smart tunnel, which has greatly increased speeding through passport control.

Dubai hospitality remains a major driver of Dubai’s attractiveness, with 820 hotels and hotel apartments offering “world-class” hospitality. Dubai hospitality also contributed to Dubai receiving 15.70 million overnight foreign visitor arrivals in the first ten months of 2025, a 5% increase from last year, with a total of 36.71 million overnight room stays in Dubai. Contactless check-in systems in Dubai hospitality establishments are also a reflection of Dubai’s drive for innovation.
