Jumba, Africa’s largest digital marketplace for construction materials, has launched the Jumba App, a new platform designed to simplify how Kenyans buy building materials  ending the long-standing struggles of price inconsistencies, unreliable suppliers, and delayed deliveries.

For years, developers, contractors, and homeowners have had to chase quotes from multiple suppliers, deal with fluctuating prices, and face delivery frustrations. The Jumba App promises to change that.

With just a few taps, users can now browse verified suppliers, compare prices in real time, and order everything from cement to tiles  all from one trusted digital platform.

“Our mission is simple  to make building easy,” said Kagure Wamunyu, CEO and Co-Founder of Jumba. “Whether you’re a developer running multiple projects, a homeowner building your first house, or a Kenyan in the diaspora constructing a home back home, Jumba gives you confidence that what you order is what you get  on time and at the right price.”

A Game-Changer for Kenya’s Construction Sector

The Jumba App offers a range of features designed to solve everyday challenges in construction sourcing:

  • Transparent Pricing: Users can instantly compare prices from verified suppliers, cutting out overcharging and guesswork.
  • One-Stop Shop: From structural materials to finishes, everything needed for construction is available in one place.
  • Reliable Delivery: Materials are delivered in full and on time, keeping projects on schedule.
  • Convenient Ordering: Users can order from anywhere on-site, at home, or abroad  with just a few clicks.

The app was unveiled during a high-profile launch event at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, attended by industry leaders, government officials, and major suppliers, including Crown Paints, Tuff Steel, Tononoka, Jumbo Steel, Comply Industries, Abyssinia, Mzito, National Cement, Dewalt, Blue Nile, and Bamburi.

Currently, the Jumba App is available to users in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, with plans underway to expand to all 47 counties.

The new app marks a major step in Jumba’s mission to modernize and digitize construction sourcing. With Kenya’s growing smartphone adoption and increased use of mobile internet, the platform offers a convenient, on-the-go solution for builders and homeowners alike.

Key benefits include:

  • Convenience: Eliminates the hassle of calling multiple suppliers or visiting several hardware stores.
  • Transparency: Real-time pricing and verified suppliers help users make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Efficiency: Integrated logistics and delivery tracking reduce costly project delays.
  • Accessibility: Makes it easy for anyone  from contractors to first-time home builders  to buy materials affordably.
  • Scalability: Enables Jumba to reach thousands of customers faster than traditional supply channels.
  • Trust & Insights: Digitized transactions provide valuable data to improve inventory and customer service.

“The Jumba App is more than just a tool,” said Wamunyu. “It’s part of a movement to make construction smarter, faster, and more transparent across Africa.”

About Jumba

Founded in 2022, Jumba is a technology-driven marketplace transforming how Africa sources construction materials. Initially launched as a B2B platform for structural supplies, the company has grown into a full-service B2C marketplace connecting homeowners, developers, and contractors directly with verified suppliers.

The company was built on one core insight: in Africa, 90% of homes are built, not bought. Yet, the construction supply chain remains one of the most fragmented and opaque industries. Jumba’s goal is to solve this by providing a trusted digital marketplace that guarantees fair prices, reliable deliveries, and verified suppliers all in one platform.

Led by Kagure Wamunyu, a former Uber Kenya Country Manager, Jumba brings deep expertise in logistics, technology, and platform scaling to a sector ripe for innovation.

As Jumba continues to expand across Kenya and beyond, its vision remains clear  to make building easier, faster, and more transparent for everyone, from large-scale developers to families constructing their dream homes.
