SGA Security Drives Powerful Youth Empowerment Through Hockey Support for Underprivileged Children

Youth Empowerment took centre stage as SGA Security Kenya reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to uplifting underprivileged children and young people through sports. Through its continued partnership with the Kenya Youth Hockey Development programme, SGA Security uses hockey as a tool for the empowerment of youth and social transformation.

Since 2020, SGA Security has consistently donated hockey goalposts to needy communities, a gesture that continues to unlock opportunities for hundreds of young players from informal settlements.

During a special handover ceremony, the Kenya Youth Hockey Development team hosted a match in honour of SGA’s support. The celebration marked how equipment and mentorship can spark actual Youth Empowerment through exposing young people to structured play, discipline, and exposure.

SGA Security Kenya Country Manager Lucas Ndolo said cultivating talent among the youth is a key driver in creating safer, more resilient communities.

“At SGA, we are committed to having a safe and secure world, and one way to do that is by ensuring that young people are supported through employment and through talent,” Ndolo said. “We believe in the transformative power of sports, which is why we have supported this programme since 2020 and will continue doing so.”

Through this program, Youth Empowerment is more than a slogan; instead, it is the path taken by children to build up confidence, teamwork, and life skills.

The Kenya Youth Hockey Development program works with disadvantaged children in various informal settlements to build up values like discipline, resilience, and opportunity in life through the game of hockey. Beyond training, the program also extends scholarships to promising players, reinforcing its mission of meaningful youth empowerment.

Founder Erik van der Dussen expressed his deep gratitude for SGA Security’s long-term partnership.

“For the children of Mwiki, these goalposts represent opportunity, motivation and a sense of pride,” he said. “We are grateful for SGA’s support and look forward to seeing this equipment make a real difference in the lives of young players.”
