Kenyan golfer Scola Onsongo will wrap up her tour of Uganda on Wednesday, October 1, with a final round at the Entebbe Golf Club.
This comes after having visited the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa on September 27 and the Uganda Golf Club on September 29.
Scola Onsongo, a recent convert to the game, having only started playing it with the Covid-19 pandemic, described the Kampala experience as difficult but rewarding. She was especially elated at having had the opportunity to play at the Uganda Golf Club.
“I felt highly honored to have played alongside the club’s resident golf pro, Mr. Joseph Mawejje, on September 29, 2025,” she said, adding that such opportunities keep her game sharp and her mind receptive to the sport.
The golfer has quickly become a household name on the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, where she has collected many staff winner awards. One of her highlights was scoring 46 stableford points off a handicap of 31 at the Nyali Golf Club leg.
Her steady progress is reflected in her decreasing handicap, now in the mid-20s a reflection of her growing competitiveness.

Onsongo’s rise has also taken her far beyond East Africa. She recently played at Japan’s Caledonian Golf Club during the Sakura season, describing the experience as rare and memorable.
In the past few years, her golfing journey has taken her to more than 40 courses worldwide from Las Vegas’ desert course of Stallion Mountain to South Africa’s windy coastal course of Fish River Sun, with visits to Ghana, Mauritius, and elsewhere.
Reflecting on her East African tour after her second round in Kampala, she said:
“I started playing golf during COVID when I was searching for a new challenge, and the experience has been incredible. Uganda has given me the perfect platform to grow my game, and as I make my way to Rwanda, I am invigorated to keep challenging myself while flying Kenya’s flag even higher.”
Her progress shows how determination and discipline can fast-track progress in golf.
With her improved game and frequent tour action, she is inching towards competing well in open categories, beyond the corporate and staff levels.
Apart from her own success, Scola Onsongo is also using her platform to develop the next generation of golfers through the Junior Golf Foundation.
Her increasing visibility, especially as a woman excelling in a sport dominated by men, is making her a role model for young golfers across the region.
As she heads to Rwanda, Scola Onsongo is not only chasing individual records but also crafting herself as a trailblazer for East African golf spanning regional greens and international fairways and inspiring a number to follow in her path.
