Safaricom has emerged as the overall corporate winner at the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Equator Tour finale that was held at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club.
This comes at a time when the company has been at the forefront of supporting professional golf in the country and has been at the helm of promoting sports in Kenya.
Safaricom Dominates Corporate Standings at PGK Equator Tour
Safaricom, which had a team comprising Samuel Njoroge, Mutahi Kibugu, Mohit Mediratta, and Matthew Wahome, dominated the corporate standings with a total of 8,555 points.
This was ahead of Kenya Airways with 6,280 points, Johnnie Walker with 6,025 points, NCBA with 5,680 points, Visa with 5,435 points, and Britam with 1,855 points.
In terms of individuals, Greg Snow emerged as the winner with 4,450 points, while Safaricom-supported Njoroge emerged as the runner-up with 3,680 points.
On the other hand, Mutahi Kibugu emerged sixth with 2,728 points and a runner-up position at the finale, while Mohit Mediratta emerged eleventh with 1,813 points.

Matthew Wahome emerged with 160 points at the end of the season that was characterized by discipline, dedication, and excellence.
“It has been an incredible feeling to finish at the top as a team at the PGK Equator Tour. The competition required focus and consistency throughout. I am proud of my team at Safaricom for being at the top of the corporate category. It is a testament to our hard work and dedication. We are thankful to Safaricom for giving us the opportunity to compete at the highest level,” Samuel Njoroge said after the finale
Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa lauded the team on their outstanding performance, citing their commitment to sports development:
“We are proud of our players for their amazing performance throughout the tour. We are proud to have won the Corporate Shield and to have one of our golfers finish second overall. It is a testament to the talent, resilience, and consistency that Kenyan golfers can achieve with the right support.”
The PGK Equator Tour finale ended on a high note as fans engaged with the action, showcasing the best of Kenya’s golfers.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming Magical Kenya Open as golfers sponsored by Safaricom prepare to compete at international events.
