Safaricom revenue growth has soared to an unprecedented $3 billion (KES 388.7 billion), marking a historic first in the region and highlighting the success of the company’s five-year transformation into a purpose-led technology company.

The reporting period also marked the end of Safaricom’s five-year strategy cycle, which saw the company transform from a telecommunication business to a Technology Company through accelerated technology adoption and agreater focus on digitizing Kenya and Ethiopia.
We have delivered excellent group performance with double digit growth on both top and bottom line. Thisstrong set of results reflect the dedication of our teams, the loyalty of our customers, and the strength of our strategy,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom PLC CEO.
Ethiopia emerged as a major growth engine, contributing nearly 10% of group revenue. Safaricom Ethiopia more than doubled its subscriber base to 8.8 million, with 2.4 million actively using M-PESA services and transacting over KES 20.6 billion during the year. Ethiopia’s business is expected to become profitable by 2027.
In Kenya, service revenue surged 10.5% to KES 364.3 billion. M-PESA, now 18 years old, remained a key driver, with revenue growing 15.2% to KES 161.1 billion. Connectivity services, which include mobile data and voice, also showed resilience, growing by 6.5% and 1.6% respectively.
Safaricom will distribute KES 48.08 billion in dividends to shareholders, affirming its financial strength and commitment to investor returns.
“This year’s results are more than a reflection of past performance; they are a foundation for our vision of becoming Africa’s leading purpose-led tech company by year 2030.
