Safaricom has been recognized as the number one Employer in Kenya and one of the top workplaces in Kenya and the entire African continent in 2026, having won the Safaricom Top Employer 2026 certification award.
This is the fifth time running that Safaricom takes home the Safaricom Top Employer 2026 award from the global institute that benchmarks companies against international standards on people practices.
The certification examines the performance of the companies against six important elements, namely people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning and development, diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee well-being, within which Safaricom Top Employer 2026 is still performing well.
Safaricom Top Employer 2026 reflects strong people-first culture
Safaricom Group CEO Peter Ndegwa: “Safaricom Top Employer 2026 certification demonstrates the importance we place on people as part of our strategy and vision.”
‘This award reinforces that investing in our people is critical to our strategic delivery. Empowered employees will help us innovate responsibly, serve our customers better, and make our vision of being Africa’s best purpose-driven technology company a reality,’ said Mr. Ndegwa.
In 2025, Safaricom refreshed its Employer Value Proposition to align more closely the role of its workers with the results delivered by the business. This initiative, among others, has been cited as important for the Safaricom Top Employer 2026 status.
The company’s working environment has been supported by employee benefits aiming at long-term financial, physical, and mental well-being.
These include an employee mortgage package, medical cover, and access to internal facilities like clinics and gyms, which are initiatives that further placed the company among the Safaricom Top Employers 2026 winners.
Apart from the initiatives carried out within the organization, Safaricom has also received awards for its initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity.
In December 2025, the organization won the Inclusive Employment and Workplace Award at the Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion Awards for the progress it has made in ensuring that women are well represented in the organization’s current leadership and that the organization has 3.9 percent disability employee representation.
“The recognition of being a Safaricom Top Employer 2026 is a testament to our company’s ability to align our people strategy with our business goals,” said Adrian Seligman, CEO of the Top Employers Institute.
“This certification is a testament to Safaricom’s commitment to creating a best workplace to drive business success. Their people strategy highly aligned to their business strategy, along with their focus on continuous improvement, have proved the impact of their practices to us,’ said Seligman.
In 2025, the Top Employers Certification involved close to 2,500 organizations in 131 countries and regions and touched the lives of over 14 million employees worldwide. Safaricom being a Top Employer 2026 thus sits alongside distinguished employers globally.
