The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars have officially begun their Spanish week-long training camp with top-level football training sessions and friendlies against SD Huesca’s Academy teams.

The girls took on SD Huesca’s U13 boys in an action-packed match on Monday that ended in a 2-2 draw, marking a great start to their Spanish tour.

Earlier in the day, the team was welcomed to the Huesca complex and guided through a tour of orientation before engaging in football masterclasses.

They subsequently trained with the U23 Academy team in a grueling training session, and in the afternoon took a tour of the ancient Casco Histórico de Huesca as part of their cultural exposure.

The players underwent training from SD Huesca’s top coaches, where the training was focused on tactical training, technical mastery of the ball, fitness, and mental preparation.

The program focuses on exposing the All-Stars to modern football tactics and developing their skills for local and international opportunities.

We had an excellent morning training session with the girls’ team, and I already see huge potential there,” SD Huesca U23 coach Juan Ramon Fung said.

“Mine was to help them play quicker, get the ball on the move, and change quickly. They read the game perfectly, they’re fit, and they can deliver good long balls. I also helped them with decision-making inside the box shooting and scoring with one touch. Their progress is incredible, and in my opinion, they can turn into top-class players.”

The evening friendly against the U13 boys tested the girls’ technical and physical abilities, while also offering lessons in teamwork, positioning, and game management against a professional academy setup.

Striker Martha Nafula, one of the All-Stars, described the experience as both challenging and inspiring.

“I’m really excited to be here in Huesca. The conditions are great, almost like back home in Kenya. To play against the boys was an excellent test, and I’ve learned a lot from the training as well as the match.”
“As a striker, you have to be ruthless in the box making decisions in seconds, losing the ball less, and finishing chances with conviction. The training style here is foreign relative to what we do at home, and it’s making me better. The week has just begun, and I’m eager to learn more,” she said.

The team will continue with masterclasses and training today, before the boys’ All-Stars take on Huesca’s U23 side in a friendly later in the evening.

The Spanish tour falls under the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 4, a development program for grassroots football talent that provides international exposure, opens doors for young Kenyan footballers to pursue professional football careers, and shapes the talent.
