In a major step toward deepening digital inclusion, Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has announced a strategic partnership with leading retailer Quickmart to accelerate access to 4G and 5G home internet in Kenya.
The move enables customers to conveniently purchase routers at any of Quickmart’s 61 outlets countrywide and instantly enjoy fast, reliable internet connectivity at home.
This collaboration is a key milestone in Safaricom’s broader mission to simplify digital access and enhance the customer experience. It introduces a new self-service router activation process that empowers users to get connected in minutes.
By scanning a QR code, customers can register their SIM card, select a package, activate their router, and immediately go online without needing technical support or in-store assistance.
“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are continuously innovating to provide our customers with the best connectivity solutions. This partnership will ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable home internet with ease, reinforcing our promise of seamless connectivity and great value,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business
Officer, Safaricom PLC.
“We are excited to collaborate with Safaricom to offer our customers easy access to high-speed internet solutions. This partnership aligns with our goal to provide convenience and value to Kenyans by making essential services readily available at our
stores,” said J. Thuku, Quickmart, CCO.
Customers can purchase the 4G or 5G home routers each retailing for KES 2,999—not only at Quickmart but also from Safaricom retail shops, authorized dealers, and online via Masoko.co.ke. Additionally, Safaricom is working to onboard more retail partners across the country to ensure even broader availability.
With Safaricom’s 4G network covering over 97% of Kenya’s population and its growing 5G network now available in all 47 counties, its 4G and 5G for home internet solutions now enable customers in areas outside fibre coverage to enjoy seamless internet
connectivity in their homes.
This initiative comes as demand for 4G and 5G home internet in Kenya continues to surge. In response, Safaricom has been upgrading Home Fibre speeds at no extra cost, optimizing fibre network capacity, and hosting home service clinics across the country to further improve the customer experience.
To meet varied household needs, Safaricom offers a range of flexible data packages. For 5G routers, customers can choose from 50 Mbps for KES 4,000, 100 Mbps for KES 5,000, and 250 Mbps for KES 10,000—all valid for 30 days. The 4G Wi-Fi bundles are also affordably priced, with options such as 25GB for KES 999 and 140GB for KES 2,999.
