TVS Motor Company has officially rolled out the much-anticipated TVS Apache Kenya launch, introducing the performance-driven TVS Apache RTR 180 to the Kenyan market in a move set to redefine the region’s premium motorcycle segment.
The launch, done in partnership with Car & General, signals a major strategic push by the global manufacturer to strengthen its footprint in East Africa’s fast-growing mobility sector.
Unveiled in Nairobi on November 17, 2025, the TVS Apache RTR 180 brings two decades of racing pedigree, advanced technology, and a global fan base of over 6.5 million riders into Kenya’s vibrant biking culture.
With its 177.4cc engine, race-tuned suspension, disc brakes, beast-inspired LED headlamps, wider tubeless tyres, and 5-speed gearbox, the Apache arrives ready to serve riders who crave performance, reliability, and style.
Why the TVS Apache Kenya Launch Matters
Speaking at the event, Peyman Kargar, President of International Business at TVS Motor Company, said the TVS Apache Kenya launch aligns with the company’s long-term vision to deliver premium, performance-led mobility solutions across Africa.
“Kenya is central to our continental ambitions,” he said. “The country’s dynamic riding culture, strong market structure, and growing community of discerning riders make it the perfect home for the Apache’s debut.”
Car & General CEO Vijay Gidoomal added that the new model is expected to energize Kenya’s premium motorcycle segment.
“With its power, comfort, and fuel efficiency, the Apache RTR 180 offers the perfect balance for young riders seeking a dynamic daily ride,” he said.
The motorcycle is priced at KES 269,990 and is available in four colours Pearl White, Matte Blue, Gloss Black, and Matte Grey across 12 Car & General dealerships nationwide.

Insights From the TVS Leadership: Why Kenya, Why Now
Following the launch, TVS executives shared deeper insights into their strategy and expectations for the Kenyan market.
Kenya as a Strategic Hub
Kargar revealed that Africa accounts for 65% of TVS’s international business, with Kenya being a long-standing anchor market.
“We started our journey here over 23 years ago. Kenya gave us a platform to build the taxi (boda boda) segment with reliable bikes that riders could depend on daily,” he noted.
Now, TVS is pivoting to individual mobility targeting lifestyle riders who want performance, design, and an elevated riding experience.
Premium Quality Over Low Cost
Addressing questions on affordability, Kargar emphasized that TVS isn’t positioning itself as the cheapest motorcycle brand.
“We offer global-quality bikes at competitive prices. Customers may pay slightly more, but they understand the value they get reliability, durability, and unmatched aftersales support,” he said.
How the Apache Stands Out
The Apache’s strengths, according to TVS, go beyond engineering.
Racing-inspired performance
Top-tier reliability
Robust customer service network
Continuous engineering improvements driven by rider feedback
“We don’t sell a bike and disappear,” Kargar explained. “Customer feedback shapes our engineering upgrades. That’s why our satisfaction ratings lead the pack.”
Local Assembly, Jobs, and Economic Impact
Car & General confirmed that the Apache RTR 180 will be locally assembled just like other TVS models.
The Nairobi facility can produce 700 units per day, supporting both local demand and future regional exports.
The TVS ecosystem also plays a major role in job creation:
- 600,000 boda boda riders nationwide use TVS motorcycles
- 7,500 mechanics have been trained across the country
- 1,200–1,300 people are employed in local assembly and service networks
“This industry feeds many families,” Gidoomal said. “Our impact goes far beyond selling machines.”
Racing Culture and the New Generation of Riders
TVS leadership affirmed their interest in Kenya’s rising motorsport culture.
“We pioneered mobility for work. Now we want to pioneer lifestyle motorcycles,” said a company representative. “Young Kenyans want more than transport they want a bike that reflects their personality, their aspirations, their lifestyle. The Apache delivers that.”
A New Era for East African Riders
With its blend of performance engineering, local assembly, strong aftersales support, and lifestyle appeal, the TVS Apache Kenya launch signifies more than a product introduction it marks a shift in the region’s motorcycle landscape.
As TVS Motor Company deepens its presence in East Africa, the brand aims to elevate personal mobility, empower riders, and shape the future of premium motorcycling in Kenya.
