Moscow to Host First World Public Assembly with Leaders from 150 Nations

MOSCOW, September 20–21, 2025

More than 4,000 delegates from across the globe are expected in Moscow this month for the inaugural World Public Assembly (WPA), a major international humanitarian forum coinciding with the International Day of Peace.

The two-day gathering will bring together participants from over 150 countries, including ministers, diplomats, cosmonauts, scientists, spiritual leaders, and mayors, alongside descendants of notable historical figures.

Organizers say the event is designed to chart “well-defined solutions” for building a sustainable, fair, and cooperative world at a time of global uncertainty.

The Assembly’s theme, “New World of Conscious Unity,” reflects its focus on promoting shared values above political or cultural divides. WPA Secretary General Andrey Belyaninov emphasized that the initiative is about creating a new world “where cooperation is stronger than rivalry” and where unity is actively practiced.

UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Aleksandra Ochirova, who co-chairs the WPA’s General Council, noted that meaningful unity cannot be dictated by governments alone.

Instead, she said, the forum will rely on the ideas and proposals of its participants to advance humanitarian modernization and multipolar cooperation.

The program will feature seven panel discussions and more than 40 themed platforms covering public diplomacy, humanitarian development, cultural values, and spiritual unity.

Highlights include an International Media Forum on the role of media in serving humanity, a youth forum titled “Generation of Unity,” a business forum on corporate social responsibility, and the Congress of the World Organization of Writers (WOW).

Other sessions will look at cultural exchange, equestrian traditions, and the lessons of World War II for peacebuilding.

University leaders from over 40 countries will also meet on the sidelines of the Assembly, while a special ceremony will introduce the “For Service to Humanity” Public Recognition Award.

Among the confirmed guests are Piao Yangfan of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ilkhom Nematov of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sergey Glazyev of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, and Konstantin Kosachev of Russia’s Federation Council.

They will be joined by figures such as Ilario Franco of the Holy See’s UN mission, former SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov, Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe, Afritrack Angola CEO Sabena Johannes, Indian youth leader Himadrish Suwan, and former Jordanian Prime Minister Adnan Badran.

More than 200 journalists from Africa, Eurasia, and Latin America are expected to cover the event.

The forum is organized by the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations World Peoples Assembly, with TASS as the official media partner.

Key sessions will be streamed live through the WPA website (worldpublicsummit.org) and its social media channels.
