Kenya Railways Announces New Jobs as SGR

Kenya Railways has announced new job opportunities as the country continues to expand the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

In a notice released on Monday, the railway agency said it is looking to fill nine senior positions under Grade RG3. The jobs are open to qualified Kenyans.

Out of the nine positions, six have been re-advertised. This means they were advertised before, but the right candidates were not found.

These roles include Rail Safety Manager, Passenger Services Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager, QMS and Risk Coordination Manager, Signaling Electrical and Communication Manager, and Technical Audit Manager.

The agency is also hiring for three new roles. These are Stores and Inventory Manager, Train Operations Manager, and Accounts Manager. Kenya Railways says these roles will help improve its daily operations and how it manages finances.

Anyone applying must send a signed application letter and a detailed CV. The CV should show previous jobs, education level, current and expected salary, notice period, and at least three referees.

Applicants should provide copies of their certificates and their identity cards/passports. According to Kenya Railways, applications without copies of their certificates and ID/Passport shall not be accepted.

Selected candidates will be expected to produce original documents at the interview stage.

Applicants were told not to lie during the application process since lying would lead to disqualification.

Candidates selected for employment shall be required to present their clearance certificates from organizations like DCI, HELB, KRA, EACC, and a Credit Reference Bureau.

Kenya Railways also cautioned the public about fraudsters who use the company’s name to ask for money. The agency made it clear that it does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.

“We do not charge any fees at any stage of recruitment,” the agency said.

The company invited women, persons living with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups to apply since it is an equal opportunity employer

All applications must be submitted online through the Kenya Railways website. Applicants should clearly indicate the job they are applying for and the vacancy reference number.

The deadline for applications is April 28, 2026, at 5:00 pm.
