As the world marks World Radio Day, Kenyan telecommunications giant Safaricom has paid tribute to legendary broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela, celebrating his immense contribution to the country’s media landscape.
Mbotela, whose distinct voice and storytelling prowess defined Kenyan radio for decades, remains one of the most revered figures in broadcasting.
Veteran journalist Topi Lyambila, a former colleague and friend, described his influence, stating, “For a long time, radio was Mbotela, and Mbotela was radio.”
