Joyce Wanjiru clinched her third consecutive Kenya Ladies Golf Union title at Ruiru Sports Club, winning by a single point in a thrilling three-day golf showdown.
Wanjiru won by a single point, beating Madina Iddy who scooped the division one award
after her excellent 227 gross points at the three-day tournament that came to an end on
Sunday evening.
Speaking after her victory, Wanjiru said: “It is such an honor to join top lady golfers from
around the country. And to win this prestigious title three times in a row is no mean feat. I
am happy with the result. The competition also showcased the growth of golf in the
country. I look forward to the upcoming events and I cannot wait to participate and display
my talent.”
Margaret Njoki was the division one runners up with 235 gross while Ashley Awuor settled
for the third position with 239 gross. In the division B category, Betty Adhiambo emerged
victorious with 274 gross, Stella Njoroge finished second with 289 gross while Rosemary Mkok settled for the third place with 291 gross.
“Ruiru Sports Club has become a hub for corporate events and now for the first time ever, we have successfully hosted the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Open. This is a
testament to the growing reputation of the club and the amount of work that has gone into ensuring that the course is in pristine condition,” noted Lady Captain Rodah Mukami.
Doris Mideva, a seasoned golfer, was division one net winner with 229 while Rachel Ndei
emerged second with 230.
Rehema Okal was the division B net winner with 214 and Rosemary Kioni was the runners-up with 225.
