The KCB Golf Series Nyanza stop is set to bring excitement to Kisumu this weekend, as more than 110 top amateur golfers take on the 12th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the par-70 Nyanza Golf Club.

Known for its tricky and challenging layout, the Nyanza Golf Club will play host to a strong line-up of golfers including Joseph Atito, Nishal Shah, David Omolo, Dr. Rosemary Obara, and junior sensation Tony Nyambogo.

“Nyanza Golf Club has always been a tough course. Players love the challenge and keep coming back. This is the third year we’re part of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, and it shows how much the sport is growing here,” said Club Captain Griffin Owino. “The course is in top shape, and we’re expecting an amazing weekend.”

The KCB Golf Series Nyanza event is one of the key stops on the tour, which aims to promote a strong golf culture across the region.

So far, the tournament has made stops in six counties including Nairobi, Kiambu, Kericho, Nandi, Mombasa, and Nanyuki. It has also reached Burundi, marking its regional growth.

“We can’t ignore how golf is growing in Nyanza. We’re proud to support youth development through this tour, which is close to our values,” said KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru. “This weekend, the top two teams will qualify for the grand finale happening on December 5. With the finale approaching, players are stepping up their game.”

Beyond competition, the series is making a real difference in the community. Over 1,500 participants and 1,000 juniors have already benefited from the golf clinics held alongside the events. On Sunday, June 15, KCB will run a juniors-only clinic to nurture young talent.

Next up, the tour will head to Kiambu Golf Club on June 21, 2025, continuing its mission to grow the game across East Africa.
