Government Announces Mass Recruitment of Drivers on Permanent Terms

The Ministry of Public Service has nationally invited drivers to apply for a position in the public service on permanent and pensionable terms.

Public Service Principal Secretary Jane Imbunya, in a notice on Tuesday, September 30, invited interested Kenyans to apply through the Ministry’s portal on or before October 22, 2025.

The incumbents will be paid a basic monthly salary of Ksh19,340 to Ksh24,470, along with various allowances based on the deployment region. The package also includes a commuter allowance of Ksh3,000 and an annual leave allowance of Ksh4,000.

Job Responsibilities

The Ministry says the successful applicants will be needed to drive government vehicles as authorized, conduct daily vehicle inspections oil, cooling systems, brakes, and electricals and ensure safety and security of the vehicle at all times, both on and off the road.

They’ll also be needed to maintain accurate vehicle work tickets and aid in accurate documentation for any vehicle allocated to them.

Who Can Apply?

To be considered, the candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  1. KCSE mean grade D plain or equivalent from a recognized institution

2. A valid driving licence (free from any current endorsements) for the category of vehicle that they will be expected to drive

3. Proof of attendance of a first-aid course lasting at least one week at St. John Ambulance, KIHBT, or any other recognized institution

4. Passed the Suitability Test Grade III

5. Minimum two years of active driving experience

6. A valid police certificate of good conduct

Application Process

The applicants interested should fill the PSC 2 (Revised 2016) Employment Application Form, which can be downloaded from the Public Service Commission (PSC) website.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to bring the original National ID, academic certificates, and other support documents at the time of interview.

PS Imbunya also warned the applicants from presenting forged documents or attempting to influence the recruitment exercise.

“It is an offence to present forged certificates or documents. Canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification,” she stated.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The recruitment is also a move to improve service delivery across various government departments, where the Ministry is looking to improve its transport and logistics services with a safer and more reliable workforce.
