NCBA Bank has launched a new digital banking platform called ConnectPlus aimed at offering faster, safer, and more flexible banking services to its corporate clients.
The new system, which cost $6 million to develop, is the first of its kind in East Africa to run on Intellect’s cloud-based technology.
With ConnectPlus, businesses banking with NCBA can now enjoy faster transactions, more payment options, and better tools to manage their cash flow and monitor finances. The system also comes with advanced security features to protect sensitive information.
“This is a major step forward in our journey to become a leading bank for corporates and SMEs in Kenya,” said James Gachora, NCBA Kenya’s Managing Director. “It’s not just about upgrading our tech it’s about supporting our customers and playing a key role in Kenya’s digital economy.”
NCBA says the platform is designed with users in mind. Its modern interface is easy to use, even for people who aren’t tech-savvy. And because the platform is built with future growth in mind, it can easily adapt as customer needs change.
The bank partnered with Intellect Global Transaction Banking (iGTB), a global tech firm known for its expertise in digital banking for large institutions.

“NCBA is raising the bar in corporate banking across Africa,” said Manish Maakan, CEO of iGTB. “With our support, they can now offer innovative solutions to clients and stay ahead in a competitive market.”
Some of the key features of the new ConnectPlus platform include:
- Faster processing of payments and collections
- Real-time cash and liquidity management
- Trade finance tools for local and international business
- Secure connections with corporate systems (Host-to-Host services)
- Easier setup of customized banking products
- Better digital experience across web and mobile
The new system also supports open banking through APIs, meaning it can easily connect with other financial services in the future making NCBA more flexible and responsive.
NCBA is already one of Kenya’s largest banks by assets. It operates over 100 branches and works closely with Kenya PostBank to support customers across the country.
The launch of ConnectPlus is part of NCBA’s wider strategy to cement its position as a leader in digital banking in Africa.
“With this transformation, we’re not just improving operations we’re giving our clients the tools they need to grow,” Mr. Gachora added. “It’s about delivering real value and putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.”
