The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially rescheduled the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Following a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Rabat, Morocco, on January 27, the tournament is now set to take place from August 2 to August 30, 2025.
The decision to shift the competition from February was made to grant co-hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania more time for preparations.
The CHAN draw, held in Nairobi on January 15, produced the following groupings:
Group A: Kenya (hosts), Morocco (two-time champions), DR Congo, Angola, Zambia
Group B: Tanzania (hosts), Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C: Uganda (hosts), Niger, Guinea, plus two teams yet to qualify
Group D: Senegal (defending champions), Congo Brazzaville, Sudan, Nigeria
This year’s CHAN will be historic as it marks the first time the tournament is being co-hosted by three nations.
Unlike the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), CHAN is exclusively for players competing in their home countries’ domestic leagues.
More details on venues and match schedules will be released in the coming weeks
