For the past 15 months, Bolt has absorbed VAT on behalf of its drivers, ensuring their earnings remained stable during the transition period. With regulatory clarity now in place, and following guidance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), Bolt has now implemented the VAT obligation.

“Our focus remains on compliance, fairness, and sustainability,” said Dimmy Kanyankole, General Manager, Bolt Kenya and Tanzania. “We are committed to supporting our drivers through this transition by offering awareness programs, education, and opportunities to maximize their earnings.”

This move underscores Bolt’s commitment to regulatory compliance and sustainable business operations within Kenya’s digital economy.
