Safaricom Announces Final Shangwe @25 Millionaire in Kitui County

Fidel Mwendwa, a 25-year-old from Kitui County who works as a mechanic, has been announced as the last millionaire in Safaricom’s Shangwe @25 celebrations that have marked the company’s 25-year journey of changing people’s lives.

Fidel also won an additional KES 250,000 that he can use for a community project of his choice. Overwhelmed by emotions, tears welled up in his eyes as he took his prize and allowed himself to express his feelings.

“Life has not been easy for me. I have been an orphan since I was a child. I have had many obstacles in my life that I thought I would never be able to overcome. But I have always been hopeful and passionate about life. And today, thanks to this win from Shangwe @25, a new chapter in my life begins. I can now dream big,” Fidel said.

“I have decided to support a children’s home in Kitui County. It is the same home I have been in since I became an orphan. It is a children’s home in Kitui County known as Timboni Tiva Children’s Home.”

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, on his part, noted, “Today, as we announce the final Shangwe @25 millionaire, we are proud of the millions of lives we have touched.

This promotion not only changed 25 lives, but we also managed to touch the hearts of millions of Kenyans through their chosen projects. We want to thank our customers for joining us on this incredible journey and for sharing our vision of hope, opportunity, and a brighter future.”
