Shangwe @25 Transforming Lives in Kenya to Date
Kipkoech, father of five and an employee of Rosslyn Estate in the city, received the life-changing call while attending a training session in Nairobi when Safaricom finally managed to reach him after several missed calls.
“I have been a security guard for the last fifteen years. I have been struggling to give enough to my family. I am therefore grateful for this victory that has come into my life. I would genuinely like to thank Safaricom for giving my family this amazing gift. I will use it to help my family and pay school fees for my children. I also have a plan to increase my dairy cows to enlarge my small dairy and tea farm,” said Kipkoech.
He won the Shangwe @25 campaign by acquiring airtime using M-PESA, which he uses daily to attend to family chores. Apart from working as a security guard, Kipkoech is a small-scale farmer with cattle as well as a tea farm in Nandi to supplement family income.
Kipkoech will invest some of the money in constructing rental houses in Nandi for steady income. He will also enlarge his dairy cattle business by acquiring more cattle. This will even more strengthen the means of livelihood for his family.
