Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened admissions to 36 KMTC courses, providing the Form Four learners with an opportunity to join the institutions to study medical and health-related fields. This is just about one week after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service opened the portal for Kenya Medical Training College.
According to a notification released by KUCCPS on Tuesday, January 13, candidates who managed to score a C (PLAIN) level pass to D pass in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) can join the KUCCPS KMTC courses.
The programmes will cut across certificate and diploma levels. They will be offered in all the KMTC campuses.
KUCCPS KMTC programmes: Courses offered
Under the KUCCPS, the 36 KMTC courses offered include various certification courses that will help improve the medical labor force in Kenya. There is the certificate programme for the Community Health Assistant, Health Insurance Management, Health Records and Information Technology, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing, and Medical Emergency Technician fields.
Other certification courses available through the KUCCPS KMTC courses include Medical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, and Public Health.
At the diploma level, the courses listed by the KUCCPS include Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Community Health, Community Oral Health, Dental Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Counselling, and Health Insurance Management.
Other diploma programs offered are Health Promotion, Health Records and Information Technology, Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing and Midwifery, Mental Health and Psychiatry, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Social Work, Mortuary Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Engineering.
KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome stated that through the placement service, the eligible students have been provided with an avenue to join health training through the KUCCPS KMTC programs.
Minimum requirements for KUCCPS KMTC programs
KUCCPS clarified that the minimum requirement depends on the program. In some programs, the mean grade to be considered must be C (plain), while others consider D+ (plus) and D (plain) depending on the combination of subjects.
However, the requirements as stated by KUCCPS included that all KUCCPS courses at KMTC, excluding Mortuary Science, must have a requirement for a C- (minus) pass in English or Kiswahiki and Mathematics.

The various programs offered by the KMTC will be available at different campuses in the country. Some of the campuses include Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Embu, Kakamega, Nyeri, Machakos, Mer
KUCCPS stated that all applications for the KUCCPS KMTC programmes are supposed to be done online through the student portal: students.kuccps.ac.ke. Aspiring students who have interest in the medical programs have been encouraged to apply within the next 14 days as the closing date for the application period has been set on January 27, 2026.
