Safaricom Shangwe @25 Rewards Winners with Cash, Community Support, and Business Boosts
The latest winners include Hannah Ngige from Komarock, Wellington Juma from Kisumu, Taala Chelanga from Elgeyo Marakwet, Elizabeth Wairimu from Thika, and Sheila Cheptoo from Bomet. Each of them also received Kes 250,000 earmarked for impactful local initiatives. Since its launch last month, Safaricom Shangwe @25 has created ten new millionaires and transformed lives across the country.
Speaking at the award ceremony at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi, 56-year-old Hannah Ngige shared her surprise and gratitude. “I normally sell second-hand items and make many transactions via M-PESA, which I believe helped my entries. This is a huge blessing. I plan to invest in my business and finally start tomato farming in Loitoktok. For my community project, I want to support Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital by providing beddings for the maternity wing,” she said.
Similarly, Wellington Juma, a Clinical Officer in Kisumu, revealed how the win would help both his personal and community goals. “I plan to finish building my house and equip my small clinic. The community project will support a widows’ group in Ahero, helping them earn a living through tent and chair rentals,” he said.
Young mothers, Sheila Cheptoo and Taala Chelanga, along with shopkeeper Elizabeth Wairimu, all described the win as life-changing. They plan to expand businesses, pay school fees, and support local schools and children’s homes all thanks to Safaricom Shangwe @25.

Beyond individual prizes, the promotion also recognized small and medium enterprises. Eight businesses won Bajaj tricycles or business stocks worth Kes 250,000 to boost operations. Large enterprises, including Moringa School, the European Union, and the United Nations Federal Credit Union, received Kes 500,000 each to strengthen their CSR initiatives.
Since its launch, Safaricom Shangwe @25 has rewarded thousands of customers weekly, with cash prizes, data bundles, devices, and business support tools. More than 5 million customers are expected to win prizes worth Kes 250 million over the promotion period.
Customers can participate by transacting on M-PESA, redeeming Bonga Points, or purchasing Safaricom products such as data bundles, voice bundles, digital services, or Home Fibre. Merchants and M-PESA agents are also eligible through Buy Goods, Pochi la Biashara, and qualifying transactions.
