Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot dead on Wednesday evening near the City Mortuary roundabout in Nairobi.
Eyewitnesses say two men on a motorbike approached the MP’s vehicle around 7:30pm. One of them got off and fired at close range, fatally wounding the legislator. His driver was not harmed.
Traffic police officers nearby witnessed the incident. Were was rushed to Nairobi Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the assailants are still at large. Authorities have launched an investigation.
