Joseph Kinyua, a 29-year-old from Wangige, Kiambu County, has won a brand-new Suzuki Alto after emerging as the final grand prize winner of the Safaricom Wai Ndai Challenge during the Safaricom Hook Circle Bootcamp at Kenyatta University.
The three-month online gaming challenge saw thousands of participants competing in puzzles, arcade, and action games for daily cash prizes and monthly grand prizes, with Kinyua being the third and final lucky winner.
“I am extremely happy to have emerged as one of the grand prize winners of the Wai Ndai Challenge. Thanks to Safaricom, I now have a car that I can drive around as I run my daily activities,” said Kinyua.

The car handover took place during the final day of the Safaricom Hook Circle bootcamp at Kenyatta University, which saw over 2,500 participants engage in masterclasses led by a host of expert partners.
The camp focused on empowering young people around three pillars: technology, career, and culture.
“Safaricom Hook Circle is dedicated to connecting young people across Kenya with opportunities that empower them to thrive in their chosen fields. We have had a great reception at Kenyatta University, and going forward, we are excited to continue collaborating with our partners to create even greater impact,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
The two-day bootcamp saw partners such as Baze Radio, Boomplay and Outlook give masterclasses on how to monetize content or break into passion points such as gaming, art or fashion, as part of the Culture Hook.

Under the Technology Hook, the bootcamp unpacked skills for a tech future, led by partners including Huawei, Transsion (Tecno & Infinix), Google – Gemini, and Power Learn Project.
The Career Hook, which seeks to empower the youth to chase their hustle or fulfil their career ambitions, saw partners such as Brighter Monday, Wowzi, Trace Academia, Avunja and Twiva provide industry insights.
Recognizing the importance of mental health and financial literacy, the bootcamp also featured sessions by Chiromo Hospital, Absa through its Ready to Work Program, and Old Mutual.
